Good Guys Car Show - Columbus, Ohio

I'm not sure where my appreciation of old cars came from. Maybe it was my grandfather's old Bel Air that I first learned to drive. Maybe it was the muscle cars with the rumbling engines and sleek lines. I've always liked fast cars and a lot of these cars look fast when they're just sitting still. I'm glad that this is something my husband and I can enjoy together. I pick out the "pretty ones" and he can tell me about the engines. I love looking at the lines and fenders and grills and chrome...not like the aerodynamic pods that they're producing these days. I like the cars from the days of .25 gas! The cars with substance and style.

I've also got a new fascination with the rat rods. The guys that build these cars have some real imagination. They're like rolling pieces of art. Yes, there are some beautifully restored automobiles out there, but these are real pieces of work. I'm still trying to talk John into building one of these!

But my favorite...my favorite is by far the 1959 Cadillac convertible -- complete with bullet lights and fins. The biggest car I have ever seen in my life. I think this car just exudes class and status and fun. You could pile 8 of your friends in this car and still have room for a cooler!

The old mustangs are nice too (the new ones aren't bad either). My husband can spot a rusted out mustang buried to the windows in a cornfield while driving down the highway at 65 mph! Just one more reason to love him!

Maybe one of these days...a girl can dream, can't she?
